idoru... what a great book. i'd always thought of nanotech as more of a medical frontier than an urban development frontier before reading that. gibson always has a way of shaping my understanding in the most pleasantly unexpected of ways.
i was at TED conference to give a presentation with a friend the year ray kurzweil was digging into the potential of nanotech. it was pretty inspiring to sense how real something so seemingly sci-fi actually was. TED's an insanely odd event. it's like summer camp for multi-billionaires. we were pretty much out of our element, but it was fun.
