I hate companies that mistreat employees.
My girl and I have been working for the same restaurant since december as apprentices. She's in the pastry shop, and i'm a prep cook on line. She went to school in jan/feb, and I started in march. As SOON as she got out of school and I started, they cut her hours to like 6 hours a week. Yet they're giving the stupid chick who was filling her shifts while in school...just as many hours. Why didn't the pastry chef just grow a set and lay one of them off. EVEN if it had been my girl that was laid off, that's better than just stringing her along for 6 hours a week saying "as soon as business picks up we'll have more hours for you". That's such a load of crap. On a side note, they're completely fucking me over as well. When I went into school, my souschef said he wasn't going to schedule me for any hours so that i could focus on school and not lose any EI payments. Well how in the hell are we supposed to pay our bills if my girlfriend is being cut to 6 (at MOST) hours a week, and I get none??? I'm questioning whether I'll have any hours after I'm done school now. If they can casually replace heather, what's to stop them from doing it to me too? Why bother to HAVE apprentices if you're just going to shaft them?
