I put an ad on flatmates.com.au to rent my spare bedroom. I've had 3 responses in the past 24 hours, 2 tonight since I posted photos. To be fair, the photos show my toy and movie collection, so of course I'm getting speedier responses.

Am I allowed to be an overly-judgemental dick about who I get to move in? So far I've decided none of these 4 are the ones for me, and I feel I've arrived at this decision for the wrong reasons. Maybe it's ok, because I haven't actually told these people why. I just want to be sure. I feel like I have the right to be selective. This person is living in MY house with MY stuff. We need to get along and if I'm not sure straight away then surely that is ok.

But I need to install a lock on the other bedroom door before then. Because I'm afraid of noises and I'm afraid of the dark and I'm afraid someone will break in to my house, steal my things, and murder me.

DUDE. You have all the rights in being an overly-judgemental dick. Like you said, its you stuff and your home.  ALSO I think its a little off that you got more responses after you had the picture of your clearly HUGE dvd collection. People may have the opportunity to come into your home and steal things and kill you with a a fork to you eye ball, but it'd be even worse if they were living under your roof! and killed you with the utensils you brought for yourself.
