That was an intense week.

I've mentioned little snippets. I saw Jimmy Eat World, Panic! at the Disco and Alkaline Trio on Tuesday night. I went by myself because I have no friends who listen to the same kind of music as me. At least not living in Melbourne. Though I got a snapchat lastnight at 1am from a friend in Townsville where he was singing I Write Sins, Not Tragedies. That was cool. Anyway.

Alkaline Trio were a bit underwhelming. Maybe it's just my taste in music. Maybe I don't understand punk. I have two of their albums and generally enjoy them. But I just feel like they were sloppy and underdone. Panic were awesome. They are one of the few bands of my favourites of all time which I hadn't seen live before. They're really tight live, and their singer has an amazing voice. His melodies are in a pretty hard area of your voice to extract any kind of power or consistency from, and he tends to play around vocally with those parts to compensate. He also backflips from the drum riser during their live show. I love a good rock-and-roll backflip. Jimmy Eat World were incredible. Again, I only own two of their albums, and so for a band which have been around for so long, there were a lot of songs I didn't know. But they're just such consummate professionals. Perfect sound, perfectly tight. Even if their keyboardist looks like Brian Posehn.

On my way home I had a drunk run from the train station to my house. We'd spoken about it at work earlier that day, about how when you just want to get home quickly and it's late and you think that running is a good idea because you're drunk. It was a bad idea. I just wanted to be home because it was 1am and I had to work the next day. But Wednesday was such a painful day for my back problem. I ended up going home early because it was hurting so badly.

Yet on Thursday I was fine. I dealt with it better and alternated working standing up and sitting down. No one even looked at me weirdly or questioned it. That night I went out, AGAIN. Twice in a week. Twice on a school night. My friends are moving to Switzerland and it was their last night in Melbourne. I went to a place called Whiskey and Alement. They had hundreds of whiskeys. I don't even drink whiskey. But I thought, why the hell not. I didn't become an instant fan but I gave it a shot. It was a fun night, and felt nice to have grown-up conversations with different people. Another late night coming home on the last train, but no drunk running this time.

Friday I did not go to Soundwave. It's been a big week. I had a quiet night in and I'm happy with that. But Saturday I was busy all day again. I had another osteopath appointment and he advised that I should be OK to resume exercise. Great news because the muscle I had built has turned to flab. I did a tiny bit of shopping, something I need to stop doing as often but keep doing since the breakup. I'm just trying to make this house mine by giving it touches of me and replacing the "us". I went to the Melbourne Victory vs Melbourne Heart derby game with some friends to round off the day.

And today. Today was busy again! I woke up bright an early because work had organized a team building exercise in the form of "The Color Run". Basically if you aren't aware, it's a 5km fun run to raise money for the Good Friday Appeal, and they throw packs of dyed powder at you at regular intervals throughout the course. I was proud to have come through the run without collapsing in searing back pain, proud that I didn't vomit from not running that far in a long time and not even being able to train for it. Here's me with some other, taller work people. I tried to up my swag level by wearing my hat at an angle. I also used various gang signs in my photos and generally acted like a dickhead.

Now there's pink shit stained all over my bathroom.

I had dinner at my brother's house tonight and that was nice to catch up.

And now because I wrote a giant blog I'll be tired for work again tomorrow.

LOL. Awesome. The color run's a great time. Should be another one here in my town soon.
