Mum: MATTHEW!!!!
She's crying. Hysterical.
Mum: Someone's hung a dead cat in our fence!
It's still alive. I grabbed a towel to hold it up so that it wasn't choking any longer. And so that I didn't get blood on me. Mum went next door to get the neighbour.. It's their cat. Daisy. We tried to get her out but there was no room. I ran inside and fetched a hammer to knock out the fence pailing and to set her free. Poor daisy.
First assumption is that someone did this to us. Part two in the plan to move us out of the neighbourhood? Surely not. Who would do this? It isn't even our cat.
Most likely situation: Daisy prefers to jump over the fence in favour of walking through the gate. Daisy probably tried to jump, and her feet slipped, or missed, and her neck went straight down between the pailings.
When you see blood on the fence and wide cat eyes struggling to breathe and cat saliva on the fence as it's life is choked from it... Pretty shook up.
