Zildjian K Ride cymbal. Worth around $600. Man, my ride was so pimped just now. My ride being, my drum kit.
So anyone who has been an avid reader of my bloggage might know that I do a music industry class on a Wednesday night. It's somewhat pointless. I don't really learn too much, and all it really is to me is an opportunity to be praised by other students at how good I am at certain things.
And my teacher is one Bjarne Ohlin, pictured here (on the right) with Chrissy Amphlett and Mark McIntee, in their band THE DIVINYLS.
So Bjarne has this cymbal sitting on the floor in his studio/my classroom that doesn't get used. And for a long time I hinted "you should give me that cymbal" da da da. And finally, he caved, and told me that if I replaced the drum heads and tuned the drums at school, then mine it shall be.
WELL MINE IT SHALL BE!
It's just a pity that it's 10pm and I can't try it out right now.
Also - Praise from Ceaser!
Last week, Todd and I gave Bjarne a disc of rough versions of our songs. It was basically an acoustic guitar, me tapping on a box, and the three of us singing along. We recieved our feedback tonight and he has ideas for us, and likes where we're going, and the sense I'm feeling is that he believes in what we're trying to do. It's so very exciting. This weekend's gig will (hopefully) be awesome, and then once that's over I'm hopeful that we will be able to get in to the studio with Bjarne ASAP. And then film our clip. Oh the excitement.
And to think that earlier I was having a bit of a sad day.
