WOW!
Our first two days off since NYE's day, and what do we do?
DRINK!! ... we went through a half gallon of Vodka, and Gin!Not two Fifths, .... but two half gallons! Oi!, .... good thing i don't get hangovers, unless I drink something sweet. Along with drinking, ... we've been hooked on this PS2 game Guitar Heroes II, we have both games, one and two, .... and we each have our own wireless guitars, .... it's a lot of fun!
... work is good, .... been grueling at times, but it is what we need right now. We have been working, as Head Elactricians for Brown Shoe Company, we had to go to the PRG wharehouse, to put together our rig. We went in with a plot and went from there, getting 50, 100'+ runs of SOCA cable, and the breakouts needed, and all the 2-fers, 3-fers, and jumpers, to make 425 par 575w lamps work, including 12 LED Color Blazes, and 12 MAC Studio Profiles work. Now some of you might know what I am talking about, but that is close to 3 miles of cable, and it's all going on a space of truss that is within a booth size of 200'x150'...We have 4 worlds of dimmer racks controlling all of this. Three of which are swagged looms, coming down a column (times 3 columns), to 4x12 way dimmer packs. Oh Wait!, ... there is also 3, 4, and 5 pin DMX cables running all along this to send information to all of this! it never ends....
But the best part about all this work is, .... the money. We have been getting paid a base rate of $28.50/hr, as Head Electricians. After 8 hours in a day, we are paid O/T(overtime, which means time and a half = $42.75/hr) Per said contract, that on the sixth day, you start out in O/T, and anything after 8 hours in the day, becomes D/T=$57.00/hr, .... on the seventh day, you start out in double time D/T, and anything after 8 hours in a day, become T/T, triple time!= 85.5/hr!, ..... now times that by two! (both of us were on the same gig), ... and we now have a bank account of over $4K, in less than 4 weeks, .... and it's only getting to be busier! We both made $969.00 apiece, on our seventh day!, DJ has put in her resignation, at the Tropicana, "Folies Bergere". The realization of the fact, that she can make more money, in one day, than she can in one week at the Trop,.. made her put in the request. If she didn't have her 6 nights a week "obligation", she can stay, and make more money in O/T!, .... and when we have the day off, .... she doesn't have to spend her evening at the Trop, like she is now...making like $80, for 5 hours of work...
We are already spending our money, before we actually have it in hand...
Thank you Open_Wound, for the tip on the spa idea, their showroom is like a 1/4 mile from us... Spa coming soon!
We are also looking at new furniture, .... we need a couch. The futon in the Living Room has got to go! We found a "playpen" sectional couch, at Walker Furniture ( if I could figure out how to retrieve pics from my phone to post here, you could see the couch) It"s going to be sweet!
We are also able to pay for our Cards, through 720, in full.
We might be heading to LA for the day tomorrow, .... got's to see something other than "blinking lights", go put our feet in the ocean, ... it's only 4 hours away... "great road trip for the day"...

Things have been tight for us, but soon, not so tight...monimina just got the Lead Props Tech for Spamalot...and Wynn pays Leads about $0.09/hr more than MGM/Mirage, so she's actually making more than me....So starting tomorrow morning our household income doubles.
Rock on Spa...we have several debts to take care of before we can get one, but it's high on the list.
Give a shout on your next night off and we should hook up for drinks.
Hey, no sweat on the spa lead. My mother-in-law got her disability insurance to pay for hers (due to osteoporosis and extreme arthritis pain) as long as it was under a certain price, so I had just researched that about 5 minutes before your previous post, LOL!
Did you go to L.A. and the beach? I was in utard over the weekend skiing with some friends from Salt Lake, Ogden, and San Jose. It was three days of drunken debauchery--stay tuned for a blog post on here.
