Holy shit, that was awesome.

Bear in mind, I'm a hong kong movie nut. That and this is definitely a love-letter to all the wire fu and Saturday matinee martial arts flicks. From the opening credits to the end of the movie, this is a clear homage to everything from the old Shaw Brothers films to the Sonny Chiba Street Fighter movies. It has a Hollywood veneer, and yeah, it has a Wizard of Oz feel to it, but I didn't care. I've been waiting to see Jet Li and Jackie Chan in a movie together for the last 11 years.

I think people go in with unrealistic expectations and get disappointed. I go in excited just to spend 2 hours being transported to a fictional world and that's what happened.

Now, without giving anything away, yeah, I think I'd like to see a slightly more "adult" movie from the two leads, but that's ok...I can wait. Just not another 11 years.
