I know they're legally bound to do it when someone applies internally, but telling someone they didn't get promoted is the suckiest thing ever.

At least it feels like that from my side.

Maybe this wasn't the time or place.

Is it an omen that I started getting calls from other places about my resume? Probably not.

EDIT: I'm better about it. My manager pretty much insisted that the only deciding factor was my lack of international experience, and she gave some (spot-on) constructive criticism of my interview.

When you work someplace, there's no excuse not to have a concise breakdown of what you do. I think I wasn't truly into getting this job and basically flubbed that part of the interview. I still really think this wasn't the right position or the right time. I think when it is the right time, I'll know.

She also pretty much said that since I was one of the strongest candidates, she would definitely see me in one of the other positions that has less high maintenance clients. Which I can understand. After basically filling in for the last month, I can say I don't envy the new person...these people are some of the most demanding whiny crybabies I've ever dealt with. And they just do not understand plain english despite being all english speaking areas of the world. You can tell them something in clear, concise language and they still think there is a loophole.

Anyway, I'm better about it. I'm also cynical enough to know they like me in the current job because I'm so quick and thorough, and don't want to lose that...but I can't let that stop me from going upward and onward. So while her compliments were nice, compliments don't pay my bills or keep my brain stimulated.
