She's back and everything is good in my little corner of the world. Apart from the fact the she's hobbling about on crutches after losing 3 toenails, getting an infected toe and tearing ligaments in her knee. At least she's home though. One thing which came out of her trek into the desert is that she thinks she's Tomb Raider and now wants to do another one next year. That's not the worst part, I'm going too this time.

Yup, that's right. Next year I will be off to the Costa Rican Jungle, lucky me eh? Sarcasm aside, I think it sounds like a cool experience and it really is something you wouldn't dream you'd ever do so, why not?

In other news, it's busy season in the gaming world and the next few weeks are very exciting (unless you think I'm a geek for getting excited over video games, in which case - sorry biggrin ) with the release of Assassin's Creed on Friday, Mass Effect the week after and Kane & Lynch: Dead Men following soon.

Stay Lucky.

Thanks for the comment. I think you're right about girl's taking this information in stride. My daughter was all business about it. Her older brother, on the other hand, kept asking to be excused, PLEASE. biggrin

You have a beautiful family. Glad your honey is home. Home really is the nicest word there is. My hubby is reading the Little House books to our daughter these days and he is so in awe of Laura Ingalls Wilder. Which is nice, since she was one of my childhood heroes. smile

Well...as far as the scoring goes, the system isn't terrible. I just don't think the judges necessarily follow the guidelines correctly. It ends up being too subjective. Here's part of the criteria according to the NSAC:

E. Judging Criteria
1. Judges are required to determine the winner of a bout that goes to it's full time limit based upon the following criteria:
-Clean Strikes
-Effective Grappling
-Octagon Control
-Effective Aggressiveness

and then...

L. Criteria Evaluation
1. Each judge is to evaluate which fighter was most effective. Thus striking and grappling skills are top priority.
2. Evaluating the criteria requires the use of a sliding scale. Fights can remain standing or grounded.
Judges shall recognize that it isn't how long the fighters are standing or grounded, as to the scoring the fighters achieve ,while in those positions.
3. If 90% of the round is grounded one fighter on top, then:
-effective grappling is weighed first.
-clean striking is weighed next. If clean strikes scored in the round, the Judge shall factor it in. Clean Striking can outweigh Effective Grappling while the fighters are grounded.
-octagon control is next (pace, place & position)

I'm not so sure all of the judges follow these guidelines the same. They need to reeducate the judges on this stuff.
