I am up at 3 am, when I have to go to the nursing home where my mother works and cut one of the resident's hair at 11am. She has rheumatoid arthritis and can't do so much for herself, so I am always glad to go and cut her hair for her.

My ex recently has been talking to me about all of his problems. I don't know what he wants me to say to him. I always feel so socially awkward when people open up to me about things, not that I don't want them to, but I just never know what to say. Some people have a gift of knowing what to say at exactly the right time, but I don't think I have that. I am always glad to listen, and I know some will say that's all they want, is for someone to listen. Still I'd like to say something that may comfort them in their time of need other than "life has ups and downs, where one door closes another opens" and all that cliche' crap. I guess I'm just a terrible empathetic extrovert, even though I do empathize with the issues. It feels great to be trusted, I just suck ass at advice.

I can't believe it's already August. We haven't had one tropical storm this year, which is odd compared to the past few years, and August is supposed to be like the peak of the hurricane season...sooo wtf?

Other random thoughts:
I'm sick of myspace
I wish they'd stop harassing Michael Jackson - he's DEAD.
I hate Bill O'Reilly with a passion.
The end.

You're right on the ball with the hurricane issue. Two days ago they downgraded the forecast for this year. When El Nino formed way west of Hawaii, they said we were screwed because if an El Nino is that far off, it increases the number of formed storms way over here. However, El Nino moved in towards Hawaii and that causes a dramatic decrease in storms.

There is something about El Nino that causes very high wind shear and those high winds prevent storms from organizing and becoming tropical storms or hurricanes. Yay for the eastern movement of El Nino!!
