I saw the movie again today.

Yeah, it's so fascinating to see how it's evolved! I strongly approve of most of the changes they've made in the new radio series as well...as much as I deeply, deeply love my digital watch, the modern upgrade to customized ringtones was inspired.

About Linux and/or BSD: Definitely, a separate drive is a good way to go... you just can't trust MS products to respect the foreign parts of the drive. Personally, I avoid MS products altogether, but I'm lucky in having no commercial or other constraints pushing me to use them.
About the end of the world: so far, so good...
About location: yeah, there are lots of things that glue us to places we'd rather not be. Actually, I don't know that *all* of Texas is so bad... Austin seemed (the one time I was there, for a whole 36 hours) like a cool place (well, metaphorically... it was damned hot, by my standards!). I got to dip my toes in the Colorado River (pause to check geography... yup, I believe it was the Colorado... ) which was cool in both senses. Also, there's lots of interesting history associated with Texas. Around here, "history" tends to mean anything that happened more than 50 years ago. So it's not all bad. But... still... Canada (and the west coast in particular) is a pretty cool place, and I highly recommend visiting if and when you have the chance.

As for the random number script, I ended up not using it and did it the old fashioned way: pieces of paper in a plastic bag (not a hat, I was at work and had to improvise). I can't remember if I said that in my last entry

Driving out to Dallas tonight was a waste of time. I had read reviews calling this place a "dance club", but it's nothing more than a bar. A boring one. We went to a place down the street to play some pool instead.
