Hahaha, problem solved -- albeit in a rather inconvenient way. I "borrowed" an older copy of Visual Studio from a peer-to-peer network, and I'm now able to work with it in window-based programming. However, the older version doesn't seem support standard C++ libraries as well as my current one does... so I have to keep copying stuff between the two versions (installed on two different computers) to get my shit working the way I want it to. frown But at least it's working now.

Oh, and *ahem* T MINUS TWELVE HOURS! Going with my sister and my mom tomorrow (OK, technically today) to see THE FLICK. Oh yeah, I'm ready for this. w00t!!! biggrin tongue ooo aaa ARRR!!! love

Let's hope it's not just a sack of shit.... :/

Yeah, it is worth seeing, but it had its flaws. I thought the casting was great though!

Hey... so... give us a review of The Flick! Inquiring minds want to know!

About Linux and/or BSD: Definitely, a separate drive is a good way to go... you just can't trust MS products to respect the foreign parts of the drive. Personally, I avoid MS products altogether, but I'm lucky in having no commercial or other constraints pushing me to use them.

About the end of the world: so far, so good... wink

About location: yeah, there are lots of things that glue us to places we'd rather not be. Actually, I don't know that *all* of Texas is so bad... Austin seemed (the one time I was there, for a whole 36 hours) like a cool place (well, metaphorically... it was damned hot, by my standards!). I got to dip my toes in the Colorado River (pause to check geography... yup, I believe it was the Colorado... wink ) which was cool in both senses. Also, there's lots of interesting history associated with Texas. Around here, "history" tends to mean anything that happened more than 50 years ago. So it's not all bad. But... still... Canada (and the west coast in particular) is a pretty cool place, and I highly recommend visiting if and when you have the chance.
