FlushCrux is, like, totally awesome, and stuff. In her recent journal entry, she posted some GreaseMonkey extensions that she made for Firefox. Go download them. Now.
My brother was visiting for the weekend -- of course, I was working most of the time, but I got to hang out with him a little bit, so that's cool. He showed us Spirited Away, an... Read More
Yep, sounds just like me. Hell, I couldn't even make it to 11am appointments so my therapist had to accomodate me with evening hours For me, "early" is noon.
*sigh* So the date didn't happen last night. She called during the day to tell me her roommate is sick, and she had to stay home to take care of said roommate's baby. Damnit, why does this shit always happen to me??? It's okay, though, because my brother flew in yesterday, so I got to see him. Anyway, the girl and I are on for... Read More
OMG I GOT A DATE!!! This Friday! GodDAMN I'm excited. I talked to the girl on the phone, and she's just... she sounds just right... omg, I'm excited. Wish me luck.
Thanks for the advice! I don't want to get it around the ankle anymore so at the moment I'm trying to figure out where I want it to be. I glanced in the mirror and noticed that it might look good below one or both collarbones... but for that I'd probably have to have a bunch of blocks and not just 6 of them. I also have this neat idea of having the blocks fade out into a stream of pixels at the end... but placement will affect how well that'll work.
A local friend of mine told me what she thinks is the best place, and I trust her on that. I'll be checking it out. She says it's way expensive but I'd say that's a good sign of quality and the skill of the artists there. If I'm going to do it I don't mind spending a lot of dough. And it's not that big a design either so it shouldn't be TOO bank-breaking.
Sure you can call me Crux That's my favorite part of the nickname because I love that word. I was really just being silly with the "Cruxy" thing I think it sounds a little pirate-ish though or something
After about 28½ attempts at installing Debian on the box which I have dubbed "Yoda", I've given up. I'm downloading Fedora now to see if that will work any better. It's a four-disc set, so it's going to take until tomorrow to download.
And the girl, the wonderful, cute girl I met on Match.com, is going to be out of town this week. We have... Read More
Yeah, I was pretty displeased Jar Jar even got screen time in Sith. So thankful he had no lines whatsoever, of course. His presence in the prequels is simply unjustifiable
I finally started installing Linux (Debian) on Mom's old 900MHz box. I ran a one-disc installation program that would install the kernel, then download software packages from the Internet. Well, the network isn't working on it now. Shit.
If anyone knows *nix (Zork?), please tell me why, when I run /sbin/ifconfig, it shows me only a port called "lo"... Read More
I saw REVENGE OF THE SITH today. I don't care what anyone says, that movie is awesome! Sure, Christensen could use some acting lessons, but the story was VERY well-told -- though it does have a few holes. If you've already seen the movie, read on:
1) Frankenstein Vader coming off the table
2)The Emperor tells vader he killed padme. Vaders response "Nooooooooooooooooooo!
3)most of the dialogue between padme and anakin
Tonight, I met the one girl who has contacted me through match.com . It was the worst date ever. She didn't even look me in the eye. She kept babbling, she wouldn't listen when I tried to join the conversation, and she wasn't even remotely cute.
i hope you always carry something with you to relieve the boredom with. maybe something like a whoopie cushion? you could set it off every couple of seconds if the girl you're with aggravates you. it's good for a few giggles at least!
p.s.
maybe a towel? you could wrap your head in it and tell the girl to "shut up" cause you're "very busy." ha ha ha... bad suggestion. sorry, i thought it was funny.
Still haven't started my Linux box yet... I need to either commandeer my mom's computer, or build one with the parts I have. Problem with that is that I'd need ~$250 of new components to do so. So I hope I can use Mom's old one.
And I've signed up on Match.com, because I am a total loser who can't meet people in real life... Read More
Good luck! Dont' knock it, it's a great way to meet people. You ARE likely to meet someone if you stick with it and keep yourself out there. if you retreat into yourself, you have ZERO chance of meeting anyone.
I have that game and still haven't played it. wtf? There are a BUNCH of games I have that I haven't played, after I went on a $250 games shopping spree (yikes). Still haven't played half of them.
But when I do play metroid prime I'm going to play it with my swanky headphones on and have the shit scared out of me.
He's just registered some domain names, and is planning to host a few forum sites. The one he already has up and running is a personal/family/friends sort of thing, and yesterday I created the first user account (besides his) and made the first comment evAr. Hee hee.
I've been contemplating new toys for my computer. I... Read More
Hey... I just (re)installed FreeBSD on my laptop. Seems to work well, although since I'm mostly used to Linux, the various differences surprise me now and again. But basically a very solid OS. If you're going to go with Linux, though, I'd pick Debian over Fedora. Fedora has lots of features, but it's "bleeding edge" stuff, and is usually somewhat less than bug-free. I'm starting to like FreeBSD more than Linux now, because it's a bit more lean and mean... Linux is accumulating so much bloat that it'll be competing with Windows soon! But of course there's more support, more software, etc for Linux, and it supports a wider variety of hardware.
Debian works fine as a WWW platform. With Apache installed (the de facto standard WWW server in the Unix/Linux world), it is rock solid and delivers good performance. My WWW server is Apache on Debian, and hasn't had a problem yet.
(Unless you don't like flower photos, in which case you might perceive my whole WWW site as a problem... )
Yesterday, at work, a woman calls in and complains that we've been charging her every month.
"Yes ma'am, you have an active account."
But she says she never used the DSL service, and we've been charging her for no reason!
"Did you cancel the account?"
"Well, I never used it! I sent back all that equipment you sent me."
"Ma'am,... Read More
And I've listened to about half of the radio series. Arthur isn't quite as obsessed with tea as I remember, so that's okay too. The rest of the critique stands.
My nephew is SO cute. My sister came over today. I held the kid for a while, and he was smiling, watching... Read More
Yeah, it's so fascinating to see how it's evolved! I strongly approve of most of the changes they've made in the new radio series as well...as much as I deeply, deeply love my digital watch, the modern upgrade to customized ringtones was inspired.
