I think it's time I just admit it, I suck at updating. I think about updating nearly everyday, but can almost never commit myself to actually sitting down in front of my laptop and pounding out the words to form a well written update. Seems my attention span for the internet lately is lacking.

A few folks have asked how things are going at work since my last update *big sigh*. Things got worse and then better.. but generally they are in the same place they were a few months ago during my last update. Frankly, I'm shocked I still have a job. In my industry, like many others, we are judged by how "billable" we are. For example, out of a 40 hour work week, if I have 30 billable hours, I would have a 75% bill rate, my goal is an 80% bill rate. When our fiscal year ended on July 1, I had a bill rate of exactly 80%. Which sucks, since at it's highest, my bill rate was up to over 110% (due to overtime).. so it took quite a lot of non-billable hours to sink it down to 80. Now with the start of the new fiscal year, my bill rate for the last month is absolutely dismal, I don't know exactly what it is but I'd have to guess something like 15% or less.

Sorry for all the numbers talk, but it's sort of all I think about lately. Besides bill rates, I got in trouble for my driving habits while in a company vehicle. Someone reportedly saw me driving "weaving in and out of traffic with out a turn signal". This was a disaster of epic proportions, I thought for sure I was getting fired. They take the company image thing very seriously. On top of that, I think the report is bullshit, I just simply don't' drive like that. The creme d'la creme of this situation came when bonus time rolled around. Folks in my division got average bonuses of roughly 4% of their salary. For me that would have been about $2500. Instead, I got 0.035% of my salary, or roughy $192. I was sick with disgust. If I didn't know any better I'd swear they were trying to get me to quit.

All the signs point to me losing my job any day now, but for some reason they just won't do it. In the interim, I have some pretty exciting projects coming up and I seem to have begun to repair my relationship with one of the project managers who I managed to piss off this past winter. So who knows, maybe the worst is over and things are going to start looking up?

Other things on my mind, that I want to mention before I have to get out of bed in the next 5 minutes.

- I have a girlfriend, Jordan, we met in December and were dating for a few months and finally got our shit together and are together. She has been gone for the last 2 months and comes back TODAY. Which I'm way stoked about. Big plans for a romantic night in, candles, bubbly and the like...

- I love my garden, I can't wait to share photos.

- I'm not sleeping well lately, I average about 5-6 hours of sleep a night, it is total ass. I want to start meditating, or finding a non-pharmacutical solution to this problem. However, I can't go on like this, so I scheduled a consult at a sleep clinic. Wish me luck.

I'd love to update with photos but just don't have time. I promise photos next time! Any requests?

The bonus would be 0.35% of your salary, unless you're making ~$550k. I know what you do...and unless you're selling some pretty amazing butthole on the side, a salary of $550k is pretty impossible. wink

What are you growing?

sweetheart:
Numbers..... well hate to be an ass, but at least you have a job and got a bonus... My advice whether you like it or not or chose to use it or not;
Take the positive and nurture the positive to create more of it.
Try not to focus on the bad numbers be thankful you have them even if they are small... It will manifest into something greater. Glad to hear things have started to get better and the lady has come home <3
Enjoy your time together, maybe we can go on a double date soon smile.
