Do you remember a time before texting? before email? When people had to actually talk to one another to communicate. I miss that, a lot. I've been feeling disconnected lately, which I'm sure is only being exacerbated by the fact that my birthday is in two days (I'm commonly affected by the birthday blues and this year is absolutely no exception). Seems the only people I talk to do these days on the phone are my parents, I definitely miss phone conversations with my friends. On Wednesday after my tattoo removal appointment I made 10 phone calls and not a single person picked up, I mean 10? Really? One person did call me back.

On a positive note my dad called me today, out of the blue and for not particular reason, it was really nice. It was a bit of sunshine in an otherwise rather lame and wasted day. My dad was asking me if I had any plans for my birthday, I told him no. Part of me wants to tell my parents, after the fact, that I had a great birthday. I think that would make them happy. Truth be told though I totally see myself going out on Monday for dinner by myself. We'll see what happens though.

Last night basketcase sort of forced me to hang out with her, it ended up being really nice. She totally got me to smile, as she frequently does, after a pretty shit day.

Things I would like to have this year for my birthday include

someone to eat sushi with
phone calls from my friends
someone to go to the Ballard market with, so sick of going alone and seeing all the couples with kids and dogs, it is mildly sickening
movie night with cuddling
