so i went and saw this young playwrights festival today... the son of these friends of my parents won the contest and had his musical produced. this is a kid i've known since we were really little... he's fifteen now. his musical, "anyone but me," is about a geeky boy named joe schmelnik who reinvents himself by anglocizing his name to joey nichols and becoming a total stud. he wrote the whole thing himself, book, music and lyrics, and it was SO good. according to his playbill bio he's also making short films now. it kind of freaked me out, that he's younger than me and he's already like out there, doing stuff. i left feeling really threatened and old and useless.
so i'm gonna like, get on it. seriously. i'm gonna get published and produced and all that great stuff. was watching letterman tonight and fantasizing about being interviewed. i want to be famous. unfortunately this requires effort.
my summer resolution: i WILL finish the play. and the screenplay. and call powerup. um, not in that order.

Throw your TV out the window and all your dreams will come true! You're hardly old and useless sweetie, but I bet your young genius friend isn't watching too much TV these days...
