I find myself beginning to enjoy old films more and more...Jimmy Stewart and Peter Sellers are two of my favorites.
The colors and Twisted Nature of Hitchcock, The rapid dialogue of a Bogart Fillm.

There appears to be a distinct difference in the Pre/Post Nuclear era of Filmmaking...What is the shift between the pre/post Terrorist world?

I just watched Babes In Arms. It was awful and wonderful all at once.

11:11 -- seems like every damn time i look at the clock it's divisible by 11: 3:33, 4:44, 5:22. it's gotten to the point where it isn't coincidence-- the odds may be random, but then I sure experience more than my share of viewing the clock when it's 11:11. So that's my sign. I don't know what sign it is, but I think it's a good one. Now I just have to figure out what it means.

And you? what strange relationship do you have to 11:11?

In the past 2 days I've:

1) Spoke with Jimmy Kimmel's assistant

2) Been fingerprinted.

Metaphorically, and thank you for recognizing it.

This is appalling, I suppose, but I didn't know who J.K. is until I looked him up. I don't have no TV. Ain't had for years. Is this involved with a new job? You sanded your fingertips before you got them inked, of course, didn't you? *Didn't you?* Have you learned nothing from me?
ilovemikehunt:
lack of eyes? oh no, i must be bilnd...is my third eye gone too? ahhh. no i have not seen or heard of that.

by the way, i lied about the whipping wit...it just doesn't show sometimes; for example. the past three days. my brain is officially (yes, the documents have been signed) fried (temporarily, of course). after my initial 3 day reaction to the war, i had a system overload which yielded an insatiable desire to obtain the results of intoxication. apparently, i've gotten what i had wanted...but do i really want it?

So I went and played Bingo yesterday in my dad's hometown of 212 people (98 when I was younger)...it was a get together to celebrate my Grandma's 97th...this chick rocks, funnier yet is that her daughter (My aunt) is 72 and looks great, good omen for my longevity I guess.

The world stops when it's Bingo for the Quilts...hand made. Tempers flare even when the...

Old ladies at bingo: they rock, they're smiling, but some have knives.

Who else would you have had to greet other than the blind date, I mean? You mentioned 4 or 5 awkward greetings. The situation at least had the safety factor for you, the luxury of evaluation at a remove. A disc jockety pal o' mine used to make dates over the phone with girls whod call him while he was on the air. Hed set up a meeting, ask what the girl would be wearing, and then cruise the area check her out from a distance and then decide what to do.

As for the anticipation being better than the experience, Id say thats often been true for me and sometimes not. Best strategy has been not to anticipate (to the extent thats possible), and make do with whatevers in front of me.

Predicting the Dow end-of-year is too far out. If Bush gets his war, the market will rebound and Ill dump the paltry holdings I have. Beyond that, oh boy.

Chardonnay from the Russian River valley: anything with lots of butter and oak. If red, pinot noir from Oregon: Willamette Valley. Big fruit.

Blind Date tonight (well semi-blind...I've briefly seen her she might know me)

She's DJ'ing at a local bar and we're going to hang out in-between sets.
stickyrice:
I did let go; I was responding to a post he left on my journal (and to a nasty board entry earlier, when I and several others were only trying to help someone).

Watch out for those blind dates. They're always crashing into things.
stickyrice:
Will expect a full update on the blind date. Especially the juicy parts. Of the date, I mean; not necessarily of her. Unless.

Sometimes it seems the more words I type, the more trouble I get into.

more things I've learned:

3) Never be anyone's bitch...you'd be suprised how that affects people around you in a positive way. It wins respect and thats all you can really ask of others.

4) Don't blame others, it keeps hate from creeping into your psyche.
stickyrice:
Put those together with the aforementioned humility and loyalty, and you've pretty much got 'er covered.

NY and good friends ... good luck! When you splittin'?

Ding ding! First guess was right: Chicago. Raised in the vicinity but I'm getting the hell out at the first opportunity. Fall has been my downfall, for it is as you say here: superb, divine and good. Leaves start a-flutterin' down, smoke in the air, cool nights, not-hot days ... these have made me stay, until whaddya know, the fuckin' snow is piling up at the door and I'm here for another year.

What gives with the no sleep? I might be of some help if I new the direction to give it. For now, I wish you peaceful rest, but not the dead kind.

Curious ... what made you think East Coast?

I lost my sunglasses today...or at least I 'realized' I lost my sunglasses today. I hate that, I hate losing shit, period. I always seem to be looking for 'something' though, I'm suprised I don't lose more shit.
