the reformed Pink Floyd @ Live 8 London was absolutely one of the most magical things i've ever seen...

When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
out of the corner of my eye

I turned to look, but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
the child is grown, the dream is gone

And I have become
comfortably numb

my sweetheart is in Egypt until Thursday. i was envious of her trip until she told me it would be 40 degrees. ha! so not the weather for me, thank you very much. anyway, i hope she's having a good time. this break will do us good.

heh, ok, this is actually the second time today i've updated this journal entry; i keep remembering things that might suggest my life isn't entirely uneventful.

on Thursday i'm off to the Garage in London to see Dredg for the first time. about fucking time too - been into them almost two years now and was starting to doubt they'd ever set foot in the UK again. it will be either a religious experience or a crushing disappointment. i'm sure it's possible that it might be just "ok", but i like talking in absolutes. perhaps i have Sith blood in me.

i can't believe i just said that.

the other event is a Decimo gig in Nottingham on Friday. we've never played there before, which makes the show a little more noteworthy than usual, plus it's with our sublime labelmates Holiday Stabbings and Deguello in support. i gather they like it loud n nasty in Nottingham - they won't be disappointed.

i would have preferred less bias towards a certain Canadian, but the public has spoken...however, i guess i'll wait another week or so before buying, so there's still time...vote vote vote!

I think it would be more hilarious if my life defined your sense of humour, rather than defied it.

I enjoyed reading Nausea at the time, which was a few years ago. It's hard to say what I'd think of it now. The only part that really sticks out is the scene with the tree.. I'd need to flip through it again in order to give you a better opinion of it, but I don't own it.

You found it entirely life-changing, though? In what way? I recall it reflecting the way I was viewing the world at the time.

And finally, yes, I really was a farmhand. On a vegetable farm, though. Does that give me more or less points? Hahah.

Hope you're well. I totally wish that I was in Egypt.
