here is something that i wrote back in November, and then abandoned, only to resurrect it recently and vastly improve the form and pace. that said, it is still a bit shabby, though that is kinda the point, 'Misc.' as in a stream of consciousness.

MISC.

Did her sense
of humour die with the early thrills?
I wonder which is the greater loss

Cars convey
a yawning workforce; everyone I know
who owns a car, complains about it

Too late in the year for a cold shower?
Too early
for immolation?

You must understand that is
a discipline, says
the middle-aged student

And hindered by my wounded fingertip
I am late again
for the gauntlet of sighs

at the moment i'm working through JG Ballard's The Atrocity Exhibition. i say working through rather than reading because this is one of his most difficult novels; on a superficial level, quite fragmented, and on a philosophical level, most unsettling. nobody writes like this man, and i like to think his surgical style has influenced my own writing. he is a master of analogy and symbolism; allow me to share with you a trio of favourite lines:

"Caliban asleep across a mirror stained with vomit"

"like the first homosexual intercourse, in an Apollo space capsule"

"Christ crucified on the sodomized body of his own mother"

ha. genius. smile

I'd argue with the genius.

As for the piece.

Immolation is too strong for the piece.

guantlet of sighs is a brillant line.

To paraphrase a poet-slash-writter I'm rather fond of, [&] is no longer interesting on SuicideGirls

The problem is, I don't feel I'm interesting anywhere.

Perhaps I need a break. My words well is close to dry, and there is no sign of rain.

I love when people use the term stomach when refering to books or films. Consider Crash on my "Books to read this Year" list
