hahahaha - no!? Seriously? That's fucking hilarious, man biggrin I'm trying to imagine what context you could say it in, though.

I'll have a think about links.

Hey... you sent me a messagewith a poem in it the other day, right around the time of the funeral, and when shit settled down, I went back to give it a look-see... and it was GONE!

What the fuck? It just vanished. Must be a glitch or something. Weird.

Anyhoo, I'd like to check it out again, so if you wanna re-send it, that'd be cool.

How goes the work on Bouville?

so, i ask my girlfriend, who studied French, what is the correct pronunciation of Rimbaud.

"rambo" was her reply. "rambo".

Rambo, inimitable French boy-poet...

it's the little things that keep me going.

"...a bell of rose-coloured fire tolls in the clouds."

~Rimbaud (from 'Phrases', one of the Illumonations poems)

Another (from 'Mystical', also in Illuminations):

"The flower-strewn softness of the stars..."

Magic.

My advice on complete editions of Rimbaud: this one is good, but very pedantic, and not faithful to the sounds (rhymes etc.) of Rimbaud's poems; it's a very intellectual translation. This one is better, in my opinion. The translator tries to stay faithful to the originals, as well as making an effort to create vivid-sounding, heart-felt versions. The originals are printed on the left-hand pages.

Peace.

Funny, I've owned the first book for almost two years. And now I'm going to have to check out the other one.

Also, related to Billy, less than a year ago I excitedly drove to Salt Lake City's public library to catch a public reading of Ginsberg's "Howl" performed by some acclaimed gentleman I'd never heard of. My local community radio was actually broadcasting the event. The evening eventually concluded with me disappointedly shuffling to the local poolhall to vent physically over the terrible performance.

Saw this and thought of you:

"Protect me
From a body without death. Such indignity
Would be outcast, like a rock in the sea.
But with death, it can hold
More than time gives it, or the earth shows it."

~Christopher Fry, from his drama 'A Sleep of Prisoners'.

From bitter searching of the heart,
Quickened with passion and with pain
We rise to play a greater part.
This is the faith from which we start:
Men shall know commonwealth again
From bitter searching of the heart.
We loved the easy and the smart,
But now, with keener hand and brain,
We rise to play a greater part.
The lesser loyalties depart,
And neither...

Wow, Faith's got her own site - excellent! Her drawings are so much like mine it's unreal.

1000 people in one week! It's hard to get my head round that. Amazing. Kudos if ever I've seen it biggrin

For me, it all became monotonous.

That's why I went into hiding and came out an artist. wink biggrin

(You know, CatPower started off local, and I hear wonderful things about the music, but I've yet to hear one single note. Might be on my intenerary to do so soon...)

Sometimes you just have to
end
a conversation

There is only so much apologising
and explaining a person can do
before ones sweethearts objective
creeps into view: to have you nail
a foot to the floor
with your own words, let you
tire yourself out, talking in circles
and then, only then
have you prostrate in shame

(Later
if youre lucky and compliant
you might...

not much going on at the moment. i'm at work listening to a French trio, the Anouar Brahem band - piano, accordian and oud (a wonderful stringed intrument that sounds like it was made for Tom Waits). good working music.

Cause I don't like you anymore.

Just kidding biggrin

The politics of having a 'friends list' did my head in last time, so I thought - "fuck it".

How's you?

Yeah, that first one works nicely now. Compact and cutting.

I donno...I think "throng masked scent" is a kick ass line. I wouldn't discard it so quickly.

(You know, I've never been too clear on the definition of "daft". Maybe it's too close to my own truth sometimes, you know, touches a nerve in me, or something biggrin )

I can see the "Mexico City Blues" trip here! At least you didn't say something like "Poxy Bucolic Pig ticks"

Now that's daft! (?)

I like Pound, but he's hard to read without a serious set of encyclopedias at you side!

Warm day in Georgia. Down right hot. Unseasonably so. We're all just waking up at 2.00 pm, smoking cigs and drinking coffee. We're enlightened bums!

How's things down your way?
