so my son wants to be jack white. and he wants a guitar. at the least that's better than his last hero eminem. but i don't wanna get him a guitar yet, i want him to master the piano first. he's getting perdy good, but spends most of his time transcribing white stripes songs onto the piano. *shrugs
i have a friend that's in a fairly popular band, and i tell my son. ." you're more of a musician than he is. he can't even read music. he's only a musician because he actually gets paid to play music."
(he gets paid alot actually and i'm really stoked for him) never the less he still don't know any scales or what-not like my son does.
so i'm trying to encourage his piano playing , and his school work. he won a presidential award last year for grades and SAT SCORES. i told him , i'm proud of him and he should proud of himself, but. .
"keep trying extra hard and doing the best you can because there's a million little asian kids out there kickin' ass in school!"
i also tell him .. .
" if you really, REALLY want to do WHATEVER you want in life, you have to excel in school. you can have a nice life a decent job just by getting a decent education, but if you want to do WHATEVER YOU WANT, then you have to try super hard to get there."
i'm kinda of a freak dad huh?
i've stressed to him since the day he was born that 'listening' was the best way to learn everything you need. and if you listen good enough, you'll even be able to tell if people are telling the truth or not.
but you know what , even if he decides to be some stoner dude , that lives in our house forever and doesn't do a damn thing , that's cool with me, as long as he doesn't try to hawk the tv or comp for dope.
have a nice weekend everybody!

I wish my parents got me piano lessons as a child. You're giving your son an incredible gift.
If you can afford a guitar get it - no reason he can't expand and explore his musical talants.
