For the last 10 months I've been trapped here in Iraq. This isn't a new thing for me. In fact, this is my third time here. I've gotten used to the jarring disconnect from society, and the bone jarring fear that comes with being in imminent danger every single day. I learned early on in my career how to emotionally distance myself from my circumstance, and accept whatever could happen to me before it did. This probably kept me from panic a number of times, and has definitely prevented me from breaking down. Everytime I come here I end up keeping a blog somewhere. It's late in my deployment to start this, but I've gotten settled into a rutt that finally affords me the time, and space to do so now. This is pretty much for my gratification, an no one elses. Like when you repeat a thought out loud to see if it sounds as crazy to hear as it does to think it. Plus this site has really beautiful women to check out. Quinne and Ember are my two favorites so far.
