Hey there! I am in a really crappy class, so I have some time to write. I have been super busy, I still have this paper to write for the conference in Cleveland. I will be doing that tomorrow, as well as some TA work. I have some good absinth, but I havent been able to enjoy it, or relax. Tonight Im going out, German beer, perhaps absinth, political debates and depending on how things go, jell-o wrestling well see this weekend I may have a few hours of time to breath. Hope the booze was good last night!!!

My mother is CERTAIN that cousin Shannon's "look" is just an immature phase, an attempt to prove that she is adult enough to make her own decisions. She also thinks that's why I got my navel done. I told her that unless she was in my head, living my life, she should not presume to know my motivations for anything. My aunt cries about my cousin all the time, apparently, because she's certain she failed in raising her. What she should realize is that she succeeded in raising a unique, interesting young woman.

Yeah. I honestly like the way mine look, too. And I'm working on a tattoo design the same way you described. There's one I've had in mind for a couple of years now, and I still want it, so I'm going to do it soon. The other design I'm still fine-tuning. You're right about people adorning themselves in various ways throughout history, too. That's what I was trying to get at with my mother...piercings and tattoos both have extremely long histories in human cultures, and have occurred spontaneously in many widely divergent cultures. Obviously there is something about body modification which appeals to the human psyche.

Yes! My definition of art is "Art is what disturbs." That's so much like yours! I don't necessarily mean "disturbs" in a bad way, either. Just something that shakes you up a bit, ya know?

Ahhh...wisdom teeth. That exact thing happened to me...one of them grew out for a while, hurting like mutha-fuckin' hell. I finally got it and another of them pulled right out. It didn't hurt at all while they were doing it 'cause of the drugs ( ) and didn't hurt much afterwards, either. Then when I got the other two taken out, they gave me a prescription for Vicodin afterwards...

venus fly traps are cool. they emite a pheramone (spl??) that attracts flys, then close their mouths on them and use an enzyme to slowly digest the creature.

also, you can feed it little pieces of raw meat, too, if you want to see it eat. i don't know what kind yours is, but most of them will lose their mouthes when they eat and have to grow a new one. still, it's cool.

I had one of those once and it got invaided by carpenter ants and it did not survive the battle.

SG is anything it's what you said a way for people to feel free and express themselves and not have to worry about the everyday bullshit that goes on aorund them.

for me it's a chance to air my grievances in my journal or if things are well, to yell from mountain tops.
