So i went to Santa Barbara yesterday. I was going to go alone and just hang out and drink margaritas, but a friend asked if she could come along. I conceded. She showed up late. I feel i was justified in being upset, but i didn't say anything. So we head out in my trusty bronco 2, aka Rocky, for the nice drive. As we near my destination, it becomes obvious that she thought we would be spending the day on the sand. That was not my intent. Yes, I wanted to be in SB, near the beach. Not on it. I wanted to sit on the patio of this mexican restaurant i like and eat fish tacos and drink margaritas and smell the beach. Not be on it.. That was my whole reason for going. I sensed the disappointement. I didn't really care. She wanted to come with me, not the other way around.

Once we got to the restaurant things mellowed out. We were there no more than 10 minutes when I saw Evan Handler (Charlotte's second husband from Sex And The City), and Adrien Brody walk by. That was exciting. We ordered maragritas, and got a good buzz. I had to settle for shrimp tacos, their fish shipment hadn't arrived. But they were oh so yummy. We hung out and people watched for a bit. We then hit a cool antique shop and looked around. We meandered around a bit. We had another drink at a pub and then headed back to Rocky. A short, but relaxing day...once we got there.

On the drive back Rocky decided that he was done. Ventura was as far as he would go. So I pulled over, and turned on my hazards. Officer Omar came to our aid. He said that he could get us a tow faster than AAA. Ok. Well, dispatch forgot to call the tow, and it was now too late to make it to the closest mechanic, so I could leave my keys with a person to give to the mechanic first thing in the morn. It's now getting progressively later, and my mom is already on her way to get us in Ventura.

Officer Omar says we can get my car off at the next exit, go left back over the fwy, hop back on in the other direction, go for three exits, get off, make a left, and then another left into the other mehcanic shop, that has a 24hr attendant. How, do you ask? Simple. I put Rocky in neutral, and he pushes me at speeds of up to 60mph, the whole way. That was some scary ass shit!

After we accomplished that terrifying feat, my friend and I waited for my mom a BJ's. I told our waiter our tale, and he must've felt for us, because he brought us a pazookie, on the house. I'm sure wearing a bikini top didn't hurt either. That was some yummy shit! And it did help to make it all a little better.

I got a ride to pick up Rocky this morn. Horror and terror creeping in at the thought of what the repairs, whatever they may be, are going to cost me. $50. That's it. $30 for a diagnostic, and $20 to replace some hose that came loose and was shredded by the fan belt. All that for that.

Never a dull moment when i take a road trip. Though next time, i think i might just do SB alone like originally planned.
