Pre-show R P Head
Last night I went out to my friend's band's show. There was a Matchbox 20 rip off band and an indie band who liked to put disco beats in their songs a la Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, Bloc Party, etc.
. The combination of me drinking a lot and not having dinner led to painful hunger pains throught the last half of the show. But then afterwards we went to Jimmy John's the greatest sub place in the world, then I passed out in my bed.
In my sociology class we watched a documentary narrarated by Maya Angelo on how the media potrayed blacks throughout early U.S History. In the 30's and 40's the cartoons and comics always potrayed blacks as having huge oversized lips and in movies they had white actors playing black rapists who chased around white women.
There were also a lot of paintings showing "The Good Ol' Days" with black slaves being happy and smiling while picking cotton. I think it's funny how people romanticize the 1950's as the Golden Era of America and say how immoral we have become now even though there was still segragation back then....So yeah that was my angsty rant for the day haha.
What are some guilty pleasure songs/TV shows that you like?
I have that Gwen Stafani song "What you waiting for?" on my computer and I've been watching a lot of basketball lately since my Miami Heat are in the eastern conference finals hehe.
