[RANT]

So...our upstairs neighbors are a bunch of idiotas. For one, they're loud. Two, they walk around their sqeaky floors WAY more than they need to late at night. Three, they don't fight in English so I can't even eavesdrop as they're keeping me awake. Four, I'm told it's their inability to learn to tuck the shower curtain INTO the bathtub, instead of outside, that has led to a good chunk of our kitchen ceiling falling in and drooling water all over my freshly cleaned dishes.

But the kicker, ladies and gentlemen, is that they are CONSTANTLY blowing out our electricity. I suppose now that's it's gotten pretty hot around these parts and and people are running their air conditioners, it shouldn't strike me as so unusual. And it doesn't...not really. I'm pretty sure that both me and the lady upstairs are home during the day, and between the two of us, we don't normally have electricity problems. I have learned, from blowing the shit out myself one day, that I can NOT vacuum while the a/c is running. OK. Lesson learned. Now when I vacuum I simply turn it off...no biggie.

During the weekends though...it's a fucking hassle because they're CONSTANTLY blowing the electricity. I don't know WHAT they're doing upstairs, but SERIOUSLY!?! mad The Mister and I will be happily snuggling on the couch watching a movie and *pop* off it goes. Making dinner? *pop* Getting into bed? *pop* We often come home from errands to find that the electricity has gone out.

The hassle about this is, for one, it means I have to reset ALL the clocks in the house...including the EVER important coffee machine. I mean, every once in a while, no problem, but multiple times a day? I'm starting to think I should just leave all the clocks blinking expetantly at me until I'm finally ready to hit the hay and just do it the one time...praying they don't blow the shit out while we're sleeping, because GOD FORBID the alarm doesn't go off or the coffee maker doesn't start bubbling away, inspiring me to get up.

The other hassle is being that The Mister and I live in the basement apartment, we're closest to the circuit box. Having blown the circuit myself while vacuuming...I was forced into the creepy storage space to find the ONE switch that would bring light back into my world among the SIX breaker boxes in there!!! That's right, six! Now that I've found it, it takes all of one minute for me to slip my sneaks on, grab a flashlight, and flip the switch.

Problem with that? Those upstairs idiotas have gotten AWFULLY spoiled by that system...so...when this morning, as 6:30 am I heard a *POP* and suddenly was sitting here staring at a blank computer screen in an awfully quiet apartment...I didn't jump up to fix it.

Nope...I lit a smoke instead, leaned back in my chair, and waited to see what would happen. Nothing... Not for a couple of minutes...and then, loud banging from upstairs...sounding like someone pounding on the floor? Or jumping up and down? Who knows... I didn't budge. A couple of minutes later...it happened again. Bang, bang, bang!!!

It was then I decided to wait those fuckers out. You see...so long as my husband gets up and out to work with some fresh coffee...I don't give a shit if we've got lights. And...if they're going to continue to be irresponsible AND disrespectful with regards to the electricity we share...then fuck 'em.

...I grabbed my Harry Potter, book six...my glasses, my coffee...and headed to the couch. I opened the blinds for light and there I happily enjoyed my quiet morning. Quiet except for being so RUDELY interrupted by their banging on the floor every few minutes...until the finally gave up.

I figured I'd wait them out until about nine. Figuring by then who ever had to go to work would be gone and will have suffered getting ready in the dark as punishment for their on-going stupidity. In the end...and as if God himself was in cahoots with me...exactly at 9AM...with a *pop* and a whir...the electricity came back on, without me having to do a thing!

The moral of the story? Be kind to your neighbors and they'll be kind to you. Be selfish, loud, electricity sucking bastards...and...well, you know the rest...
