After a small moment of panic at the Monterey airport 5:30am yesterday...finding that one of my flights had been cancelled...it turned out to have gotten fucked up in my favor...reducing my number of layovers and getting my plane to touch down a good 3 hours earlier than planned!
This gave me enough time to hang around with my friend Meri and get the keys to her place before she took off for Brooklyn.
We ordered some fabulous Thai food and I prettied myself up for a night out at my bar.
I met my big, black, homo...and BEST girlfriend ever, Jasper...and also met my new friend Othello live and in person. I always have a secret fear that my friends won't get along...but this proved not to be an issue at all (as it usually doesn't). Together the three of us pounded back numerous PBRs and shots of bourbon...and before we knew it, it was last call.

This morning I woke up alone in Meri's apartmetment, sometime around 4pm...(hellooooo time difference!)
I wandered the streets of her neighborhood for a while trying to decide what to get for breakfast/lunch/dinner...and thoroughly enjoyed my walk, finally deciding on some Whole Foods.
I'm overwhelmed with the things that have disappeared, changed, moved, and been built since I've been gone.
New York City is most definitely my home.
Not that I haven't lived other places...but it's the place I lived last and the longest.
I was amazed at how easily I jumped right back into the subway system navigation...taxi cab hailing...and bustling city life that IS new york.
I'm certainly having some thoughts about New York...which I'm trying to hold onto so I can compile them for you all.
But right now...it's time to get all gussied up again so I can go party with some other friends.
