Well I think my job interview went quite well, my interviews were very interesting and more interested in what kind of person I was than my academic achievements. I suppose that's the way it has to be in an environment that has hundreds of scientists working closely together, they need to make sure there wont be any major clashes. I'm still not completely sure but they told me they would check my references and if they were ok they would call me with an offer by the end of next week at the latest.
What I was most happy about with the interview was a major personal achievement, I managed to maintain eye contact the entire interview. It may not seem like much but for anyone with autism it can almost seem painful to look someone in the eyes. It's like you are forcing your body to do something your brain says is wrong, almost as if you are trying to put your hand into meat shredder. Its something I struggle with daily so I was very pleased, especially after my embarrassment of the other day when I didn't take long enough to think and again followed an instruction literally and making myself look like an idiot.
