Warning this is a drunken rant.

Growing up I would often wonder why my mum had a problem with my father being an alcoholic. I mean my grandfather had been an alcoholic my great grandfather and so on. The one thing that all these men seem to have in common besides the fact they all look exactly the same is that they were always so happy when drinking. Now that I am an alcoholic too I still don't see the problem especially since unlike them I am only happy when I am drinking and never happy any other time. No man in my family has ever hit their wife or beat their children, they have never caused an accidental death or driven drunk. None of my ancestors have ever seemed to have any aspect of thier life affected by the fact that we really like to drink and get utterly and completely wasted as often as possible. So I have to wonder all these adds on the tv and all the stories in the papers about how its never ok to be an alcoholic are they telling the entire truth or is my family just weird.

I can see it from the others side I guess, My friend Dudley will start a fight at the drop of a hat when he drinks but is the friendliest guy when not. Its not as though he's a bully though since he only starts fights with people stronger than him and always backs down if they are not actually interested in fighting. Still I can see where some might consider this Destructive behaviour.

All in all my point is this right now I am drinking and I am happy and tomorrow morning I will wake up and be faced with my depression again, so is using alcohol to deal with my problems really any worse than taking drugs that doctor will give yet cause my body more damage then drinking does.
heathen:
*hugs* alcohol never did any more or less for me than the medication. The key difference was in how tolerable my behavior was to other people. Regardless, I mostly just smoke pot now and that seems to be a nice balance.
