I had my first official distance run of the year today. The Auckland Round the Bays 8.4km which I ran in 52 minutes which may not seem bad but when compare it to the winner who did it in an amazing 24 minutes it leaves room for improvement.
I am extremely sore at the moment not from the run itself but from the fact I had a 2 hour painful walk back to the city because all the regular buses were cancelled and the event buses wouldn't accept my pass. So I am glad that my next run, the Huntly Half 10km but apparently quite difficult, isn't till May 20th.
I haven't decided how many runs I am going to do but I am slowly training up for the all important Auckland Marathon. Which I suspect will be 42km of gruelling torture and I will only end up doing the half marathon but that will still be an achievement for someone who was incapable of running until they were 16.
Also at the end of today's race they had free chiropractic checks and I thought what the hell since I had extremely bad back problems as a child I should see how much better I had gotten. After two minutes I was informed how quite urgent it was I have a proper check-up since I have a serious problem and am putting 15kg more weight on my left foot then on my right among other problems. The Doctor was shocked I had managed the time I had and that I had not been suffering serious pain Since there is almost no charge for students to get treated I am sure she wasn't bullshitting me either. So I have an appointment at the hospital to get it properly checked this Friday.
