I had an email conversation with the little green girl that I've been seeing, and we confirmed that our chemistry really isn't more than friendship chemistry after all, which is nice as I didn't wish to hurt her. Still, I think that's the way it should be. We dated for a little better than five months and shared a lot of experiences, and did not have a single argument or disagreement. She says I'm the best guy friend she's ever had.
In fact, we dated for almost exactly as long a period as Mrs. Ballard and I dated last year, which, shmoopiness and sex aside, were among the worst months of my life, marked by constant arguing and fighting and her passive-agressive nonsense. But this, by honest comparison, has ended perfectly pleasantly and I couldn't be happier about it having such a relaxed and angst-free segueway into friendship. I hope we can remain friends for a long time.
...especially since I've also been seeing an old friend in Athens, and that's already gotten, as we say, "serious," and there's more of a potential future attached to that. She asked me in late September whether I was still taking applications for stepmother, and that her biological clock has begun ringing, and, well...
She stayed the night last weekend, after she made me banana bread and ginger cookies for my birthday. The kids and I are going to see her and to buy comics and Christmas gifts in a little bit. Hurry up, 9.20, I'm anxious to get on the road.
