OK so - it's been a while since a lengthy post.
but thanks to Tattoo Tuesday, I have something to share.
So two years ago - i got a flash 13 tat from Daredevil in NYC as a part of their $13 tats on Friday the 13th - july, 13th 2007 to be exact. I won some money in vegas on the number, I turned 25, wanted a "tester tattoo," rationale etc.
here's what it looked like
about a month ago I FINALLY decided on the rest of the inside left bicep. I'm a lover of chaos - I thrive in it - so what better idea to lead me through the rest of life than the 13th guest to the "banquet of the Gods."
The piece is a simple observance of the beginning (or one of the beginnings) to armageddon. In this case - Ragnarok was started by the gods and the giants - resulting in the deaths of most of the gods - and a rebirth of the world, cleansed by water, and subsequent repopulation by two humans.
Yes there are christian correlations - BUT I also want a piece on my body to remind me that spirituality is what WE make of it, and that our way of dealing with death is our OWN. AND that other more well known religions have and will - repurpose rural mythology into it's own canon.
