- Today's been full of small but memorable things so far. There is going to be a north/south get-together here tonight because us lot from Sherwood haven't seen those posh West-Bridgefordians in ages and ages but as well just getting drunk today I'll will have managed to have been reasonably productive. Inventing... inventing singing into a bunched up bath towel, which will hopefully to prevent my yelps from reaching the ears within the other semi, was a pretty good start. Then I decided that there was a literary link between Robbie Williams's "Angels" and "And did those feet in ancient times" by William Blake, (which is better known as the hymn "Jerusalem"). Both songs are national favourites, both have a satanic element, Blakes being the end of the first verse: "And did Countenance Divine shine fourth upon our clouded hills? And was Jerusalem builded here amoung these dark Satanic mills?" Robbie sings http://paroles-de-chansons.abazada.com/index.php that when he feels that love is dead he's "loving angels instead". Although "Angels" is a lot more circumlacutory, I think that the two songs are highly similar and I wonder if the writers of the later track had the Jerusalem in mind.
- So I was marching around my coffee table in my bedroom singing like I was at the Rugby Union World Cup when "= crunch =" I step on a broken wine glass that I'd knocked over not too long earlier. The glass is very light and so the cuts are not deep. These are the kind of glasses that you can break with your fingers if you probe them hard.
- I visited the freezer again, after fluttering to the floor with a shout, and this time found a mystery bag of meat and after crumbling away some of the frost discovered it to be chicken wings. A curry then! I remembered to defrost them but that delayed the meal from a schedualed four-fifteen to six o'clock. I'm splendid at cooking mediocre meals. 20 minutes in I added cider vineger but I must have boiled most of it off because after the initial reeking, my dish didn't taste of it at all. I think that was the idea actually.
- While that was in the pipeline my Grandmother's lesbian sister rang. I haven't spoken to her very often because she was never invited to family events while my Grandfather was alive. It was so sad to here that she didn't really remember who her other nieces children were. We spoke for at least half an hour. She told me about the Open University course that she had done in her 70s! She'd called to ask how my Grannie was and I was pleased to give her a mature answer. Sometimes it's great to be the man of the house but at others...well maybe some of you know.
- Finally, (and i'm skirting over Ronan issues because though we've had beef, he was really lighthearted and attempted being funny on the phone to me tonight and he will be here soon) I opened a georgeous bottle of Shiraz and it looks like I will be tipsy even before everyone gets here.
