Yup, I'm a little north of you and it's cold as all hell here. Also, I dunno about the rest of the their musical catalogue, but my indellible memory of Duran Duran is the video for 'Girls on Film'. Uneditted version never got aired on Mtv. A little too risque for them. Btw: Don't be -in- a band, be the -reason- for the band to exist.

oh, and I was sooo in love with David Duchvony. What's he up to these days? The last I heard he appeared on Life with Bonnie, and got an Emmy nomination for it. He was my first obsession lol

i have signed up and am posting like mad. like mad i tells ya.

you know, i think you've responded to no less than two threads i've started in very critical - yet very accurate - ways. so i figured i'd pop by and see who this very smart and challenging person might be. so here i am!

yeah, i found out about the pynchon just the other day. i'm reading gravity's rainbow now and using the internet to research some of the more obscure references he makes in the book, so that's how i found out. pynchon's a big touchstone for me.

so how about you, stuck in a downcast, cloudy world and trying to make sense of things? i'll tell you: it's only older people who will tell you that these are "the best years of your life." when you're going through this stage and trying to figure shit out, it sure as hell doesn't seem like it. not being allowed to go out and have fun because you're under 21 doesn't help either. :-)

if it makes you feel any better, you should know that it does get better, as you get to learn what makes you happy. that takes a bit of risk and facing uncertainty, but as long as you have faith in yourself, others will, too.

besides, you're smart. as long as you get your mind to work for, rather than against you, you should be fine. the key to happiness is maintaining a sense of wonder about the world.

so here i go again, responding to your current malaise with something you may disparage again. well, at least i tried.
