So this morning, shortly after arriving to my 8am class I was feeling a bit hungry and decided to take a walk to K building for a bagel. Apparently I've never gone down there that early and ended up having to wait around for about 10 minutes until the cafeteria opened. So I started reading all the postings outside the student activities office and came across a flyer for a new certificate program starting next semester at MCC. Fashion Design. Its about time they offered something like this. I'm a little dissapointed that since its not an offered class till next semester that there is no class descriptions to be found. I guess its going to be a 14 class program that begins with basic design principles similar to the design classes i've already taken in my current program to fashion illustration (which is awsome because I always loved my figure illustration 1 & 2 classes) to sewing and pattern making. I've never sewn anything by hand and i've only used a sewing machine once but I've always wanted to learn. I was beyond ready to be finished with school after just one more semester and just find a decient job even if it is just an entry-level position making 35,000/year bc thats more than double what i make as a server. However, now I still want to finish with the Media and Communication Arts degree and look for a job but Im really geeked about this new certificate option. I cant imagine getting tuition help from my mom or grandparents to continue at macomb for something completely different than what i've been working toward but hopefully I can find time and will be making better money then so I can afford to pay for these classes on my own. Even if that means i can only take 1 or 2 classes per semester.

I guess this means I just really need to buckle down and focus on using my time efficiently....and make and spend my money efficiently. Wnen I started serving instead of working retail I was making alot more money and didn't really need to budget as much. But I think I'm going to go back to that-it couldn't hurt.


as a related comment: Project Runway Season Finale is just two days away!! I can't wait. I'll be happy with the winner as long as its not Laura. I dont dislike her but she's a bit boring for my taste and my least favorite of the final four. # 3 pick would probably be Uli. Her designs are really bright and fun but I'm not sure that its really my style or that I would ever buy one of her garments. My #2 pick is really hard. Its such a close call between Micheal and Jeffrey. I've been favoring Micheal most of the season personality-wise but although I really liked many of his designs, he's my number 2 pick right now (for who i want to win not who i think will win. I think is gonna be the winner). But I'm rooting for Jeffrey numero uno. I love his edgy designs and he can still do sexy and girly. When it comes down to it, I'd probably purchase a Jeffrey garment above all others.
