I had a friend drop in on me last night from Oman where he teaches. Always good to see him as he's one of the more interesting people I've ever met. He's an old friend of the family, so he's known my mom since before I was born. He also lives in a shoe, and his wife insists that she's not that old. And I mean a house built to look like a shoe, with 3 inch tugboat line for laces.

I also woke up to find that he'd left for his flight while I was still sleeping, but left me an alarm clock shaped like a mosque.

This morning I went to McDonalds again for breakfast where I have a strange new ritual. You see if I order a Sausage McMuffin with egg and two hash browns it costs $5.10. However if I order a Sausage McMuffin with egg extra value meal with two hash browns and a small coffee it costs $4.27. Yes that's right, they not only give the coffee away for free, but they take $0.83 off my bill for ordering it. Then when I get to the pickup window I have to explain that I don't in fact want the coffee I was just ordering it to make the food cost less.

There has to be a better way to go about that.
