This weekend I did some very exciting things, such as removing the weeds from my patio, chopping back some monster climbing plant thing in my back garden and mowing the lawn. Riveting news eh?

I also spent some time playing the Eve Online MMORPG for the first time. On the one hand it is gorgeous to look at, with user-friendly game-play and it seems to boast a wealth of intriguing possibilities. On the flip side to do anything you need money, which means you need to spend many tedious hours mining or trading or something. Pare back the glossy veneer and you seem to be playing a futuristic, glorified accountant (who just happens to be hardwired into a spaceship). I'm going to give it some time to see where it goes, but I think I already know it's not the kind of rewarding RPG experience that I'm looking for, tsk.

I also went to see Land of the Dead and Wolf Creek. Land of the Dead was pretty standard zombie cheese fare, with some added kudos courtesy of (an under-used) Dennis Hopper. Was fun but didn't really add anything new to the genre. Wolf Creek made for much more riveting viewing, it's pretty sick and nasty and not for the faint-hearted. However, as a narrative it ultimately cheats by failing to deliver in any shape or form - in the end it has merits for shock value, but nothing more. TBH I was more excited by the UK trailer for Serenity which wows me hugely (even if I've already seen the film).

In the weeks ahead I have some stories to write up for a weekend away, I have some polystyrene to buy in an attempt to recreate the battle scene from Hoth for a friend, and some icky stuff to procure in my plans to become a recreational leper. Hope all is good with everyone else?
