Well another week of heat death. I'm not sure how much I can take. It's never been this bad before. Haven't had a proper night's sleep for about 2 weeks now as it hasn't cooled down enough. Also picked up the flu as the no-sleep has pushed my immune system so low. And don't even get me started on the tube. I'm sure it would be cooler to climb inside my own oven. Nyargh.
But anyways. I'm sure you're all just *dying* to know (well it'll be in the paper tomorrow anyway). But Barcelona was quite fun (thankfully, it certainly could've gone a lot worse). My date was actually ok and we didn't have any problems getting along at all. Rambled about the old city, checked out the Cathedral and the park thing built by Gaudi. Had a superb meal at some posh restaurant which turned a little weird when the photographer wanted a like a million photographs and then the restaurant owner talked us into going into his mate's club a few doors down (which was hideous, a la Eurotrash). Ended up in some other club called Pascha which turned from bland dance to an interesting quasi-Burlesque trapeze show. Flight back was delayed and we nearly missed it due to rubbish announcements. After the dust had settled though it was clear there wasn't much chemistry. Her background's quite different and we mix in utterley different circles and I'm sure she'd throw a fit about hanging out on a site like this one. If we hadn't been couped up on this competition thing I doubt we'd have ever crossed paths at all. My own reservations were confirmed when I got a polite brush-off from her by e-mail over this last weekend. So, overall a good laugh, but no lasting developments. C'est la vie.
Not much else to report been playing some EVE Online and watching DVDs while trying to shift the lurgy. Finished The Wire seasons 1 & 2 (brilliant!) and now onto another show called Boomtown (interestingly put together). Also watched Flash Gordon with director Mike Hodge's commentary and the hilarious Boy Eats Girl courtesy of the inimitable fpkk. Keeping an eye on the horizon now for Miami Vice and Snakes On A Plane...

So othre than the heat it sounds like you've been having fun. And though I can't offer much of a sloution I have a tip for you to help you keep cool at night. Take a couple of cotton rags/towels/or tee shirts and wet them thoroughly. Wring them out just enough to keep them from driiping all over. Wrap them around your calves. This works very well for lowering fevers with children, and I ahve utilized it to cool off myself.. so I figured I'd mention it.
Sometimes solitude has it's definite perks.. but after a while the conversations get a little stale. And I guess my main problem right now is not so much the desire to fill some gaping crater in my life so much as I just want a pal to hang out with sometimes. And I am not surprised if Pirates trampled superman.. I've never been a huge Superman fan myself. I've never even seen any of the movies. The comics were alright.. and the cartoons.. but thats it for me. And I can't help but laugh every time I see an ad for Miami Vice. And yeah, after the last few games I bouhgt had a conflict with my PC, I have been sticking to PS2 games. Lot's of em.
