Going to vent and warn a little. My brother called me this morning to tell me mom was called last night by one of my kids hysterical because he was in jail with a friend and needed 10 grand cash to bond out and begged her not to tell dad (me). The person got upset because she didn't recognize her grandsons voice. Guilt trip. A number was left and a Cpt O'Connor was the officers name given. The scenario was that he was pulled over in a cab that was speeding. When the officers searched the car (why...for speeding???) they found drugs and guns in the trunk so my son and his friend were arrested. All he wanted grandma to do was send 10k and when everything was cleared she'd get a registered check in the full amount. Immediately started texting my son and received replies. Guess things have gotten slack in jail, you get to keep your phone. He said he wasn't in Vegas and didn't need bond money. Here were the red flags for me
1. He wouldn't be hysterical. It would have gone down something like this: you're not gonna believe this shit, got pulled over in a cab that had drugs and guns in the back and now I'm in jail, WTF. This is bullshit
2. He wouldn't plead for me to not be told. I would like to think I'd have been the first person he called. He knows I have his back and will do what ever necessary to resolve it
3. I didn't remember this till after I wanted to club a baby seal that I saw this almost exact thing on the news. Grandparent will do whatever it takes to help their grand children. Mom would have recognized his voice but they play on that creating a guilt trip they feeds the scam.
Brother called the local police and was a lady was taken fora few grand recently but there was nothing that could really be done. Faceless crime hunh, my mom has a face and a fixed income but was making arrangements to get the cash to get her grandson out of jail. I really want to catch this fucker and the ones that stole my identity on my credit cards and back cards to make a public example out of them all though my methods would be socially in acceptable. There's more but I'm so fucking pissed off it's ridiculous. I want heads on a pole!
