Thank you everyone for your kind words. We are doing better, but still sad at times. We have decided to do some stuff for Chris that will help us mourn, and help us tell the story of his life. We appreciatte all the comments we have gotten in support not only on this site, but also all over the web, and the country. Thank you Portland for all the actions you have planned in his memory!
Life has picked up pace out hear, which is good cause it ocuppies the brain. I have started printing again finally, and am doing a self portrait for my first piece of work. I will post pics of it as soon as it is installed. We have a lot of exhibition space on campus, and each piece I do get's a lot of showing time. I am happy about that.
I am also working for my profesor at his house, doing concrete, and contracting work. I think in the last two weeks I have poured over 50 bags of concrete mix. It is fun work, but it leaves me really tired. In fact I think I am going to go take a nap for a bit before Mogwa gets off work.
We really find outselves missing the kids in Eugene, a lot of them don't write or stay in touch despite our best efforts, and lately, combined with the recent loss, it has made me suprisingly sad. I am glad I am to busy for tears, and thoughts of home.

To me it looks like a consequence of right wing nationalism becoming so embedded in the psyche of a community that they become vulnerable to being manipulated by charismatic zealots such as Ian Paisley of the DUP http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Paisley The DUP is an 'anti agreement party' which means they are opposed to the peace process and the Good friday agreement
A section of the unionist community in the north are getting frustrated because they percieve that they are losing some ground to the nationalists. They are turning against the police because the RUC (in name anyway) are gone and they believe that the PSNI are somehow biased towards the nationalist side (they are not). This week the riots were sparked off when the police upholded a ruling by the 'parades commission' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parades_Commission
that prevented an orange march down a catholic road. Such marches had been re-routed before without the same level of violence, but the tensions had been escalating over the last year because of political infighting within the unionist side, Some sections are still dedicated to violent resistance and these riots are in some way a fight for supremacy within unionism itself. They are trying to and succeeding, in radicalising the unionist youth (children as young as 5 years old have been involved in the violent rioting against the police and catholics) These right wing nationalists know that if there is any violence by the nationalists in the north it will justify in the media any violence they themselves carry out and might cause a remilitarisation of the north, which is one of their primary goals, so they have been attempting to provoke the catholics into responding with violence. Their tactics are awful,including targetting catholic primary schools with firebombs and rocks
I believe that there are some powerful unionists who are engineering these riots and the paranoia amongst the working class. They are feeding hysteria when they claim that the 'republicans are getting too many concessions at the expense of the unionist community" although when asked what concessions they are referring to they just go around in circles without actually saying anything.
