Hah. Sitting in Deacon Brodie's, on round...6? 8?

Sigh.

First update in a while. All I can say is this new musical is kicking my ass and there's a girl, but she's a little bit killing my soul. Awesome.

Sorry, I suck at blogging.

_bossanova_:
How is she killing your soul? Just curious. I think I've had that experience before (at least, I was the recipient of a soul-killing), but I'm not sure.

How's things?

OK, I don't know where else to express this....so I'm doing it here.

I am officially freaking the FUCK out over this show. It's huge. And I just don't know if I can get the work done in time. Fuck getting the work done in time, I'm afraid of all the shit I'm going to miss and forget. I'm gonna fuck it up and I'm...

Hmmm.....You know how lawyers and doctors and other boring suit-type people avoid social situations that remind them of work...

Do you think it is the same for strippers?

What if they spend their free time in sweatpants and flannel?

Ugh. hope not.

heavy hearted.

I'm always working with people older than me....by 5-30 years. The age jokes get old.

And it creates distance between myself and people my age.

being alone gets old.

Work used to be able to fill that hole....but it doesn't work as well anymore.

sigh. bed time.

Drinks for sure! I'm in Manhattan every weeknight after work, pretty much free all the time (except when I'm not, dur)... and there's always Astoria for hijinks. Just let me know when you're around :-)

The Epic Story.

So, Monday night, I was waiting for the subway in Queens (which, at that point, is above the street) listening to my iphone and texting my friend (who was meeting me on the platform) that he was going to miss the oncoming subway. But then I look up and he's right in front of me, reaching for the headphone cord, as if...

I'm on a train in Philly. Back in town for 24 hours for a funeral. A friend from high school died of cancer last week.

Often, when I listen to music...I hear wonderful lyrics, and I think "that would make a great facebook status".

But I don't do it because that feels too "emo"...it's like I'm stuck between wanting to express my emotion, wanting to...

Home again, home again.

Kind of nice to be back....kinda. Seattle's an awesome city. I really had a great time. Worked hard, of course, but it all paid off. Met some cool people, ate some good food, and drank a lot of good coffee and beer.

And now...time to find a tour. I'd like to tour with Dresden Dolls (or just Amanda Palmer) I think...

Seattle's a pretty cool town.

Haven't been able to seen very much in the past 10 days I've been here...but the walk between the hotel and the theater is lovely!

And talk about good coffee...and such a selection!

It is a bit on the cloudy side, weather-wise, though. Ironic - this show has taken me to San Diego and Seattle in the past 6 months...one...

You're not missing too much in Queens, man.

How's everything going with the show? I saw Equus and enjoyed it very much (for the right reasons, I'll have you know).wink

Never been to Seattle. I think I'd like it though. Maybe I should take an American road trip one of these days. smile

Well, I should be packing. SHOULD be packing. Obviously, I am not.

I'm really excited about spending some time in Seattle...not that I'll have much in the way of time off. It's the best and worst part of my work - travel to all kinds of fun, interesting places...and never have the time to explore them.

Ah well.

It's three weeks, maybe I can find...

Beware of the rain - it's insidious. Don't carry an umbrella - you'll stand out as a tourist. Give a tribute to the bronze pig at Pike Place. Go to Espresso Vivace on Broadway on Capitol Hill - true science in espresso making. Try to catch a local show anywhere just to experience the Seattle music scene. Read The Stranger (the alt. newspaper) every week. Visit Cafe Besalu on 24th Ave. in Ballard, and get a brioche and the housemade Chai. These are my best tips. Enjoy your trip. Let me know how it goes.

It was great to meet everyone last night! Cool little bar, great people, and a nice slice of pizza to round out the evening.

Who cares that Google maps told me to go to Hudson when it was on Ave A...I made it eventually.

Anyways, best of luck to AsterLee I'm glad I got to buy her a drink! And I'm glad I finally met...
