In all my years in SF, I have never been scared, no matter what neighborhood I walk, no matter what time of night. I regularly hang in hunter's point, my sister lived on lower haight in the lte 80s early 90s, and I used to call grove @ webster home. I talk to people on the streets all the time, I banter with the old men playing chess in un plaza, I speak with those who hang on the steps of the examiner building, I talk with street punks spanging at civic ctr and I always pause to chat at hte continuous craps game at the corner of webster and haight (going since 1985) . But now I am scared when I walk the streets of my city. Scared that I will be targeted for wearing black pants and a hoodie, scared that cops will swoop in and arrest me for walking on the sidewalk. Those engaged in active civil disobedience I can understand, but to arrest everyone standing on a sidewalk? Pulling a child from his father's shoulders and beating the father? Red Squads targetting "Known Political Activists"? What kind of justice is this?
