i try not to over-think what i'm going to do when i get a tattoo done. i'm super impulsive and i usually just get shit that i want at the moment. with the exception of the first tattoo i ever got (which was done while i was a senior in high school,) most of my tattoos have been me waking up and being like, "I think I'll get this done." like the chick above me noted, just start with somewhere with stuff you like. my naga girl combines my love for mythological creatures and hot punk rock chicks. my half sleeve strokes my love for morbid things that look pretty. (they're zombie koi.) 
i wish i had the balls to get a bear fucking an antelope done somewhere on me, but that was one impulsive idea that i didn't end up doing. in my younger days i also contemplated getting the head of my dick tattooed like the Death Star so i could hum the Imperial March while fucking. when i sobered up i decided that was a horrible idea. XD

You're an artist, aren't you? A lot of tattooists would rather design their own tattoo or have the customer design their own over picking something out of a book. Yeah, I only have three tattoos, but I've heard this every time. The one time I got the earful was after a drunken night in Deep Elum (Dallas, TX) where I stumbled into a tattoo place and got one off the wall. The next time I got a tattoo (something I drew out myself), the tattoo artist laughed his balls off about my shitty wall-picked tattoo. He told me he'd rather work on something original. So, there you have it. Draw yourself something kick ass, because I know you can, dammit!

Consider yourself lucky. I only WISH I could grow a handlebar moustache (ever since I saw Rollie Fingers pitch for the Brewers in the early 80s, I've wanted one), but being in the military, I gotta keep that shit trim. What's the point of having a moustache if it can't be handlebars?!
