i was walking around, running my usual route, thinking all my crazy thoughts and talking to my invisible buddy 'jo', when it suddenly struck me, that a 'cubit' might not be based on the length of any paticular humans arm length at all. how long is a cubit, was the question. well, typically, it's 40 cm, which btw is the diameter of a critical mass of uranium 238. it's also the measurement of, and you'd never guess in a thousand years, the length that a domestic feline grows to, from her haunches to the tip of her nose. considering how cats were revered in egypt, a cubit must have been based on this dimension. a female cat, of full maturity, about 7 years of age, is called a 'queen' - (males are called 'toms'). well then, so say we all..
