Yeee fuckin' hah. Guess who gets to get up at 5:30 (and that's AM. Yes people there is a 5 o'clock in the morning. The rumor is true)? That's right, yours truly. Which is really no big deal except that's not my sleep pattern right now. Oh well, that's why we have alarm clocks.
On another topic, I checked my business e-mail today. The one...

Well, I'll have to rent it again and check you out. It was freakin' long, though. I had to watch it in two sittings.

I am not sure I had fun, since all of us seem to have problems right now and it basically turned into a group counseling session, but I AM sure I am never having sake again. Ugh. I can barely stand to think about it.

Peanut butter cookies....must be soft.

Off to sleep now. Good night.

I suppose it's good that I have to be down at my uncle's warehouse at 6AM tommorow. If I went out tonight I'd get nothing done. I need to finish all my script notes, finish painting those doors, and start packing my stuff up. Right now my plan is to head up to Charlotte on Sunday to meet with my friend who's producing this script....

No offense to Jesus, who was by all accounts a great guy, but the Pagan parts of the holidays are just more fun. It's funny how the church managed to combine Jesus into whatever was going on locally. I read a great book called about how they did this in Sicily. My Italian teacher was Sicilan, so I can basically only talk like her. I can hardly understand a Toscano, and they certainly can't understand me. smile
Gotta get packing!
catiedid:
I know, pretty pathetic of me not to do anything fun on St Patricks Day...boring vanilla WASP, that's me!! Make sure you party for the both of us!! Looking forward to your answers.
I'd love to learn more about your script if you are willing to share.

So after having been put through a whole battery of questions about my script, the themes and thoughts behind it, and what political statement it makes I now have to go back and reread it. All of which is standard stuff; the questions and the reread. I generally wait at least a week after finishing anything before going back and reading it all the way...

really? i don't have any bf's for the bunny to contend with--lol
questions:
1) Same as Catiedid--just strange people (and lots of em)
2) No (at least not mine)
3) Flannel pj bottoms and a Daquiri Emporium t-shirt (and fuzzy slippers and some socks and my glasses)
librarian:
I'm not really trying to dodge questions, I just can't define strange, or answer relationship questions in a concise way. But one of my best friends is an ex, too. #3 was easy because I am always wearing some variation on the wifebeater/jeans combo. It can be just the $2 undershirt from the boys' dept with a jean skirt I made from cutting up $3 men's jeans from Goodwill (see profile pic), or, if I'm really making an effort, more expensive jeans with a more expensive tank, or even t-shirt. smile

I mostly like to visit cities, but lately I have been wanting to visit Yosemite, Yellowstone, etc. I am worried that if I wait until later in life, things might be too changed. When I moved to the west, it felt so foreign and I never thought I'd feel comfortable, but now it's my home and I can't imagine anything else. I don't think I could go back.

I need a journal entry for today. Well not so much need as as want. Since there is a difference between need and want. The problem is I don't really know if I have anything either a) important enough to write down, or b) interesting enought to write down.

So with nothing smart or funny to say I'll fall back on the old standard of...

Gee, I tried to start smoking when I was a teenager in Switzerland, but I just couldn't stick with it. I don't have an addictive personality, I guess. I have one cig every few years, and that serves to remind me why I don't. I do the same thing with Dairy Queen.

I thought Paulette Goddard was NOT married to him, that it was a big scandal that they were just living together, and that it kept her from playing Scarlett O'Hara. See, gossip I can remember.

Wish I knew how to fix mechanical things--I am so envious of that skill.
catiedid:
I hope you're having fun up on the roof! Please don't fall off.

What brought me to SG (besides the obvious)...to learn. I love learning about other people and their lives. I've chosen a path for my life and I like to learn about others peoples paths and what it is like the walk them. People are just interesting, even the seemingly uninteresting ones.

You know Blood and Wine is a highly underrated film. Especially since it has great performances by Mickael Caine, Jack Nicholson, and believe it or not Jennifer Lopez and Stephen Dorff. Yeah it's shocking. Stephen Dorff is great in it and he usually stinks on ice. Well maybe not in Blade.
Maybe I just like it because I've always wanted to live on my own...

sick, not crying. =)
librarian:
God, I hope I am not sick for a month. I can't work that into my schedule.
I watched Chaplin in Modern Times last night. He still seems so impressive. I guess this is the first time I really appreciated it. I had to watch it in one of my sculpture classes in college, but I was operating under the influence, as students tend to do. wink

On the heels of my last journal entry here's a thought for the day. Straight out of that damn book I'm currently sucked in to.

" Historically, intercourse was the act through which male and female experienced God...Physical union with the female remained the sole means through which man (or woman) could become spiritually complete and ultimately achieve knowlege of the devine."

Okay people discuss.

God, that made me laugh so hard! I agree. Nothing should keep you up at night except nose and ear hair. smile

As for offensive smells, I am into smell, and I like a person to smell like a person, not like a product. So I'll paint on make-up and get the brazilian, but I haven't worn deodorant since college. And I graduated at 20, so that's a long time ago. I don't think people need it unless they drink caffeine, which I don't.

This has been very inspiring. No more brazilians for me. wink
librarian:
Well, just because I don't use deodorant doesn't mean I have a relaxed attitude about hygiene. I floss, I bathe twice a day, and if I do have caffeine, I will put rubbing alcohol under my arms.

I do have a friend who hardly bathes, though--she says it's something about pheromones. It must work, because she attracts a lot of men. And dogs love her. smile

So I got sucked into that damn Divinci Code book. It's what I get for being bored I suppose. It's actually pretty interesting. I need to go back and see if the stuff about the Catholic Church is true. If half of it is then I'm at least impressed by the guy's research. Actually the story's pretty entertaining. The writing's pretty much standard detective fare,...

Yeah, the valley's full of slugs and snails, but no fireflies, grasshoppers, or comforting nighttime cricket noise. I've lived here most of my life, but some things I still can't get used to. Apparently insects were very important to my childhood experience. smile

The SW indians do all the cool Catholic stuff. My mom is always in Santa Fe, and she carts home sacks of amulets and creepy statuettes. One thing she brought me once was a devil with a huge, drippy erection. That goes on my Christmas tree every year! wink

So I spent a good part of my morning looking for one of my parent's cats. I came over to paint some doors for them, and do some other stuff, and while I was certain the cat hadn't gotten out when I came in, who knows what happened before. So an hour's search of the house, including looking under every chair, the beds, and the...

Ah, visiting the parents. You're even braver than I thought! I haven't done it in at least 5 years. I prefer my home turf.
Though not my current home turf. Bend is so bourgeois--everyone out here pretends they have a ranch, but they're really McMansions, and they drive to them in their Porsche Cayennes. Too stupid.
librarian:
Oh, Portland's crawling with Hummers--the Trailblazers need somewhere to get high, after all. I went down to FL last Aug after my grandma went into the hospital. I have been there a zillion times, and I am sure that was the worst weather I'd seen--constant thunderstorms, a tornado on our street, etc. The time before that we had a family reunion in St. Augustine and it was 30'! I kind of liked it--that Lady of La Leche shrine was creepy-cool-- but I am starting to forget how nice it used to be to catch lizards by the pool on a sunny 80' day. When I was a kid, that is. I'm not so much into that now. Though I wouldn't mind gutting a few fireflies to decorate myself with--we just don't have them out here. wink

So because al my film work is freelance I do a variety of odd and strange jobs during those slack times between film jobs. It wasn't always this way. For a while I could do freelance work, make enough money to do my own stuff and then pick up another film job when I needed one. But as more film work goes overseas, and to...

The company I worked for was just starting a project in Savannah when I quit. I just couldn't handle the boss showering and changing clothes in front of me. Wish I could have put up with him--I was just starting to get assigned good projects! I did write the National Register nomination for the Hotel Californian in SFO, and another one for a historic house in Newberg, OR, so I guess I did something. smile

Well, I've been up about two hours, so I am ready for a nap!
catiedid:
I did give Jolie a listen...I need to give it more time. Not what I typically listen to so I want to listen a little more.

I've always been a film camera picture taker, but with my new digital, it is just like using my 35mm. Same functions, I can even interchange the lenses. And WOW am I gonna save money on film developing. I would make the investment! I love mine.

So much for sitting on the porch tonight. Florida (or at least the corner I'm in) has a distinct odor, of how how shall I put this delicately, raw sewage. It's a stank and a half outside.
I mean Florida can be right pleasant most times. Especially if you're near the coast, but it does have a stink to it sometimes. Although everyplace has it's...

All the old people in my family are in Florida now. It's pretty much a given that old midwesterners go there to retire. They know all the same people they knew "up north". Having lived in Oregon for the last 15 years, I can barely handle the Florida sun--it never gets that bright here, so I am immediately blinded and never seem to adjust.

Newport, Oregon is definitely one of the stinkiest places on the coast, with all the fishing boats sitting in the bay, and the whole downtown echoing with annoying sea lion barking. Somehow that adds to the stinkiness for me.

I'll stop before I get to the smell of hiking in the Swiss alps (just like Ohio, but with bells!), though I could go on about smells forever. It's one of my favorite topics. smile No one ever seems to smell everything I smell. And smell is the number one thing that attracts me to people. At least, I think so--the older I get, the less I know about love, attraction, and all that stuff.
