So I got sucked into that damn Divinci Code book. It's what I get for being bored I suppose. It's actually pretty interesting. I need to go back and see if the stuff about the Catholic Church is true. If half of it is then I'm at least impressed by the guy's research. Actually the story's pretty entertaining. The writing's pretty much standard detective fare, but the subject matter's pretty wild.
The funny thing is how much I don't know about the Church. I was raised Catholic, my great aunt was a Fransiscan nun, my mother was a nun for a while, my cousin almost became a preist but he became a Marine Corp officer instead. You'd think somewhere in my life this would have rubbed off on me. But obviously not since I'm a very fallen Catholic. In fact ever since my relatives crawled out of the bogs, stopped painting themselves blue, and took up the faith they've all been confirmed dyed in the wool Catholics. Except for me, and my sister. We're the first. We've had relatives who are died drunks, relatives who fought in wars, relatives who devoted their life to good works, and relatives who were criminals. Hell we even had a relative who went with Perry to the North Pole. But we've never had any that said, "Piss off," to becoming Catholic. Well there's a first for everything. It's like we're pioneers or something. Some might even say heroes.
Maybe not heroes. Maybe just lazy and immoral.

There's something to be said about lazy and immoral.

Sounds like your ex got the better break up deal. Sorry! frown

Yeah, the valley's full of slugs and snails, but no fireflies, grasshoppers, or comforting nighttime cricket noise. I've lived here most of my life, but some things I still can't get used to. Apparently insects were very important to my childhood experience. smile

The SW indians do all the cool Catholic stuff. My mom is always in Santa Fe, and she carts home sacks of amulets and creepy statuettes. One thing she brought me once was a devil with a huge, drippy erection. That goes on my Christmas tree every year! wink
