Ok I did not come up with anything great and wonderful to put in my journal while at work last night, but on the way home, however, I did.

I like to listen to NPR as I drive home from work (probably the worst thing about moving is I have much less time to listen, but will want to go to bed when I get home). This morning started with a story about a project where two people go into a both and record a vocal history. It is being funded I think by the National Archives as a verbal history of the US. Anyway, the important point is that it was about t poet who had a father that liked to play practical jokes and he described one joke that was played on a fellow co-worker. This joke involved hats, which segwayed into the poem Death of a Hat. I did not really care for the poem, did not seem all that special, but it did make me think about the fact that we, most specifically men, do not dress anymore. By this I do not mean we run around naked (much), but rather that clothes are there to hide our bodies or show off a label. The 20s where men wore a coat, hat and tie; that is a time I would like to have been around for. I know that looking back in history is much different then living it, but none the less I like that idea.

Next was a story about Panda porn. That was how they teased the story, they started with saying something about you do not hear much about Panda porn, but Now there is a way to get someones attention. Turned out to be about how they showed an instructional video to a Panda from China who had grown up in captivity and did not seem to know what to do. It seemed to have worked by the way, when she was returned to China she was four months pregnant.

Last story that I am going to relay has to do with police horses. This was a locally produced story, but I am sure that this happens in other parts of the country as well. Along with the other information they gave they talked about the training the horses receive. I have at least a passing interest in medieval history, specifically warfare and knights, the training the talked about was very similar to what warhorses received, just not deadly. One skill was to stick their noses in-between two people who where fighting and then separate them with their bodies and turn so as to gain more distance between them. This I thought was very cool smile

Well, off to bed now
