Never Die
By: L.B. Carter

Impressions
from all my past transgressions;
theyre all that remain now.
Hand prints in dried plaster,
so many times unnoticed
by passers-over.
My energy
pressed against a frosty window,
exactly one decade ago,
to the day.
Every time she cleans the glass,
she has yet to purify
the one thing that truly
soiled it in the past.
Blood in the earth,
from which were all born,
where my innocence was ripped away;
where my life went forth with scorn.
No matter how hard
the west-winds rip through,
Earth still holds the essence
of both me and you.
You say you fear youll die
without leaving the slightest legacy.
But this is far from so.
Even if all was done in vanity,
our imprints live on.
I could become someones faded memory.
But the unseen ones?
They will never forget me.
