I've noticed quite a bit of freedom on the Suicide Girls site. What I mean by that is freedom to get naked and express ideas. Of course, I do understand this is SG, and it primarily is a softcore porn site, but the community it attracts seems much more open with their bodies than any other community I've experienced so far online.
Are there other sites out there as forward thinking with their format as SG? Here you have a nicely designed, and presented site that presents pornography in a fairly tasteful manner (of course, I'm sure there are many who would disagree.) You also have, in my estimation, one of the most well constructed communities I've personally come across.
People are open with thier ideas without the threat of being banned for discussing sexual issues, no matter how puerile they may seem to some--with encouragement even.
I joined for a three month period. I'm not sure if I'll continue my membership past that point, though it's not because I find the site distasteful or lacking in any way (maybe to simply save money.) I feel my mind able to let certain societal ideals and mores slip away in the accepting atmostphere of SG.
Sure, there still exists cliques and clubs--that's to be expected on a site where the central ideas lie in the bare flesh of the models whose naked photos are the main attraction for many community members. It really can't be avoided. But I find I enjoy my time here, reading other peoples blogs and posts and events. Hell, I even joined SB, though I find it difficult to look at any of the sets (hehe... I'll probably be posing naked up there with the rest of them by the time my membership is over and done.)
I like Suicide Girls. Many community sites could learn a lot from it. I hope it perseveres.
